Your Consultation

What to expect from your first appointment

A 40-minute consultation with our doctor — not a seven-minute GP slot. Enough time to actually talk through everything.

01

Your story, in full

our doctor will take a thorough history — your symptoms, cycle, lifestyle, family history and medical background. Nothing is too small to mention.

02

Assessment & diagnosis

Based on your symptoms and history, our doctor will assess whether you're in perimenopause or menopause, and discuss whether blood tests would be helpful.

03

Your treatment options, explained clearly

All options are laid out — HRT, non-hormonal medications, testosterone, lifestyle — with honest pros and cons. You decide. Nothing is pushed.

04

A plan in place before you leave

You won't leave with a leaflet. You'll leave with a prescription if appropriate, a clear follow-up plan, and a letter to your GP if you want one.

Treatments Available

Evidence-based treatments, personalised to you

Most common

Body-identical HRT

Oestrogen, progesterone and sometimes testosterone — prescribed in the form that most closely matches your body's own hormones. Patches, gels, sprays and tablets available.

Often underused

Testosterone therapy

Licensed for women with low libido associated with menopause. Also shown to improve energy, mood and cognitive function. Available privately when NHS access is limited.

Local treatment

Vaginal oestrogen

Highly effective for vaginal dryness, discomfort and urinary symptoms. Safe for long-term use, including for many women who can't take systemic HRT.

HRT-free option

Non-hormonal treatments

For women who prefer not to use hormones, or for whom HRT is not suitable. Options include SSRIs, clonidine and CBT-based approaches to symptom management.

Is This Right For You?

You don't need to be certain — you just need to be struggling

Many women wait too long before seeking help, unsure whether what they're experiencing is "bad enough." It is. our doctor sees women at every stage — from first suspicions to complex, long-standing symptoms.

In your late 30s or 40s

Perimenopause can begin years before your periods stop. Irregular cycles, mood changes and sleep disruption are early signs.

Dismissed by your GP

Told your bloods are normal, or that it's anxiety or stress? Your symptoms still deserve investigation and a proper answer.

Already on HRT but not right

HRT isn't one-size-fits-all. If your current prescription isn't working, the dose, type or delivery method may need adjusting.

Post-menopause

Symptoms don't always stop after menopause. Long-term management, bone health and cardiovascular risk all benefit from ongoing specialist input.

Get in Touch
What's the difference between perimenopause and menopause?+
Menopause is defined as 12 consecutive months without a period — the average age in the UK is 51. Perimenopause is the transition phase leading up to this, which can last 2–10 years and is often when symptoms are most disruptive. You don't need to have reached menopause to seek help.
Can I get HRT if I'm still having periods?+
Yes. HRT can be prescribed during perimenopause while you're still having periods. The type and regime will be tailored to your stage, and our doctor will discuss the options that are most appropriate for you.
Is HRT safe?+
For most women, modern body-identical HRT is considered safe and the benefits outweigh the risks. The evidence has moved on significantly from older studies. our doctor will discuss your individual risk profile in your consultation and help you make an informed decision.
Do I need a blood test before my appointment?+
Not necessarily. Menopause is primarily a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms and age, not blood tests. our doctor may recommend blood tests as part of your assessment, but they are not always required before your first appointment.
Will you write to my GP?+
Yes, if you'd like us to. A letter summarising your consultation, diagnosis and treatment plan can be sent to your NHS GP to ensure continuity of care. This is entirely optional.
